ALS PROGRAM

(Alternative Learning System under the Career Advancement High School)

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education is a parallel, non-formal education program designed to provide out-of-school youth and adults (OSYA) with flexible learning opportunities so they can gain basic and functional literacy, complete elementary or junior high school, and eventually pursue Senior High School or employment. It serves as a second chance education program for individuals who were unable to access or finish formal schooling.

ALS operates through modular learning, community-based instruction, and flexible schedules, allowing learners to study at their own pace with the guidance of ALS teachers, mobile teachers, or learning facilitators.

It provides access to modules, activity sheets, digital resources, and assessment tools that help learners study independently or with guidance—anytime and anywhere. This library ensures that every ALS learner has the resources needed to progress at their own pace and succeed in completing their education.

CERTIFICATION

A Certification in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) serves as an official document issued to learners who have successfully completed required learning modules, assessments, or program components under ALS. It confirms that the learner has met the expected competencies within their learning strand or program level and is recognized by the Department of Education as valid proof of academic progress or program completion. This certification may be used for enrollment, employment, or further training, depending on the level and purpose of the completed ALS requirement.
